All The Celebrity Inspiration You Need To Repeat Looks

Known for their fashion quotients, these Bollywood actresses repeated their own outfits like an absolute boss. We spot their oops moment. Have a look! In a time when sustainability and environmental concerns reign supreme, sartorially, being a repeat offender is the only way to go.

A new outfit for every day of your life may have once been a fashion girl’s dream, but today, it sounds archaic. There is nothing practical (but everything ridiculous) about it. Why relegate your wardrobe favourites to one wear alone? Not only is it a disservice to your clothes on more than one level, it also reeks of wasted potential—yes, even after they have made a splashy debut on the ’gram.

The very agenda of the versatile separates that stores are brimming with today is to get maximum wears out of one piece. The ‘I don’t wear the same outfit twice’ sartorial school of thought is quickly being replaced with a ‘cherish, re wear and flaunt’ mindset, and we’re here for it. So are these celebrities who are all about digging deep into their closest to make the most of their beloved go-tos, be it on the red carpet or in the Pilates studio.

Take Deepika Padukone for instance. The actor is currently crushing hard on her white Jacquemus shirt—she has teamed it with cycling shorts and a belt bag, layered with a sheer corset, and most recently, worn it with a turtleneck and her trusty Zara jeans (which she has incidentally been seen in on several occasions too). The star loves repeating her festive Sabyasachi pieces as well, such as the brocade kurta set she wore to the Golden Temple on her first anniversary last year—she’d originally worn it for her chooda ceremony in 2018. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja would have you reuse your occasion wear too, especially considering the hefty price tag they often come attached with. For Raksha Bandhan last year, the actor sported the same sunny yellow Anamika Khanna crop top and palazzo set she was seen in previously—the addition of an embellished belt and a quick change of hairstyle and accessories is all it took to revamp her look. Shweta Bachchan Nanda too gave her ivory Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla sari a new lease by simply switching up the jewellery. We’ve also spotted her in a khaki shirt more than once, which her daughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, also borrowed for a day out in Mumbai.

And then there is Kareena Kapoor Khan. One of her most memorable (but decidedly flighty) characters, Poo, may have called out her on-screen classmate for wearing the same outfit twice in the same week, but the actor is all for it IRL. Be it via her Gucci T-shirts, her denim jackets or her jeans, she proves that your fashion favourites deserve to be shown generous PDA on multiple occasions. Janhvi Kapoor echoes similar sentiments when it comes to her workout wardrobe—she is often spotted wearing her bomber jackets, sports bras and mesh shorts in fresh combinations for her Pilates sessions.

Sartorial re-runs have Britain’s royal stamp of approval as well. Kate Middleton has grabbed many a tabloid headlines owing to her penchant for repeating everything from formal dress coats to Alexander McQueen dresses. The styling is never drastically different (save for a change in hairstyle, perhaps), and this goes a long way in demonstrating the power of a classic collection—you can always count on it no matter the season or occasion. Meghan Markle sings a similar tune too, and often pulls out old dresses for official visits. She wore the same trench dress she’d worn to a Mandela memorial event in London in 2018 when meeting with humanitarian Graça Machel, in 2019. For her appearance at the annual WellChild Awards in London last November, she picked a green Parosh dress that she’d initially chosen for her engagement announcement back in 2017.

Padma Lakshmi has also made a strong case for repeating clothes on the red carpet as well. In 2018, she wore a red J Mendel gown to the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, which she first wore to Vogue Women of the Year Awards back in 2017.she said on Instagram. Icon and superstar Cate Blanchett has been a vocal advocate of recycling your wardrobe too.
