7 Beauty Tricks Every Woman Can Master At Home During Self-Isolation
Every woman is probably used to that feeling of getting up, taking a shower and then scrambling to put on makeup without being late to work. Many times you might even feel like skipping out on makeup altogether and just throwing on some tinted lip balm before you leave. But what if we told you that it doesn’t have to be this way? What if you could use this time during self-isolation to hone your makeup skills? Or maybe you just want to wear your makeup while you answer work calls. So here are a bunch of basic makeup skills you can master for when you eventually return to work:
1. Perfect Your Wing
The number one basic makeup task one must master is the winged liner. Every woman knows a sharp wing is perfect for any occasion and can turn a drab outfit into a flawless one. A winged liner is perfect for days when you just need a pick me up. It’s a little difficult to master as you need steady hands but you can always pick up a liner stencil to help you perfect it. As they say, the best way to line your eyes is to just wing it!
2. Tweeze Your Own Eyebrows
If you’re someone who is dependent on your parlor lady it’s a smart idea to perfect your tweezing skills during this time. If you’re used to having your eyebrows waxed or threaded, you can use this time to learn how to manage them by yourself. The best part is that you won’t go out for a while so you won’t have to worry about going out if you over tweeze! If you have thinner eyebrows, fret not. Experiment with an eyebrow pencil to give them a bushier look than you usually sport. There are tonnes of Youtube tutorials that’ll teach you various techniques to fill in your eyebrows.
3. Experiment With Hair Color
Whether you’re touching up your roots or simply want to play with different hair colors, doing it at home will save you a lot of time and money both. This will come in handy during times you don’t have access to a salon (like now). While it’s not a smart idea to experiment with bleach as that takes a little more practice, simple things like touching up your routes or adding more color to your already bleached hair can definitely be done at home.
4. Try Applying Blush
Blush may not be a part of your everyday makeup but it certainly can make your look go from 30-100 in two minutes. Who doesn’t want rosy cheeks everyday? Certainly not us. Rosy cheeks come with a sense of innocence, nonchalance, and freshness. You can use blush to lift your look on a dull day.
5. Contour Like A Kardashian
Have you ever wished you could have that perfect Kardashian contour? Are you tired of your contour looking like a child drew on your face with mismatched crayons? Well, now is the best time to get that Kardashian “Kontour”. And what’s better is that you can video call your besties and ask them to rate your contour skills for you. It’s always a good idea to run your look by your besties and ask them for tips and tricks.
6. Try DIY Beauty Treatments
Did you run out of regular sheet masks? If so, try making your own DIY beauty treatments to supplement them. There are tonnes of treatments that offer the same kind of hydration and care that a sheet mask would offer. All you need to do is go on a trip down to your grocery store and pick up a few supplies. If you’re looking for a treatment to perk you up after a rather dreadful week, try making an orange peel, honey, and yogurt facepack. All you need to do is dry the orange peels for two three days, grind them into a fine powder and mix it with a spoon of yogurt and honey.
7. Try Cutting Your Own Hair
Just because you can’t access a salon right now, doesn’t mean you can’t experiment with your hair. Now’s the best time to get that shaved head look. Considering this is going to be one hot summer, it would be a smart idea to get a buzz cut. Even if you don’t want to go all out, you can definitely give yourself a shorter haircut to beat the summer heat and relax. Shorter hair means less upkeep and less maintenance on your part. Plus, even if you mess things up, you won’t be going out for a long long time. This will let your hair grow out of the haircut. Just don’t experiment with bangs (jk jk).
Before you know it, this pandemic too shall pass and you’ll be back to your regular routine. Is there something new you’ve been looking to try during self-isolation? Let us know in the comments below.
