Last updated on November 20, 2019

Krishna Janmashtami is just around the corner. People celebrate this Hindu festival with great joy in the month of Shravan, as they celebrate the birth of the eight avatar of Lord Vishnu; Krishna. On this day people observe fast, participate in devotional singing through the midnight. After the midnight hour, women bathe and decorate lord Krishna’s statue and place the idol in a cradle, following which women then break the fast.

Get a yellow dhoti, head gear and a flute to transform your kid into lord Krishna this Janmashtami!

Every innocent child is like the manifestation of little Krishna. If you wish to dress your child as Krishna, we will share with you some tips to get the perfect look for your child on this day. These tips will help you to deck up your little Krishna this Janmashtami.

Yellow Dhoti

Lord Krishna loved draping pitambar dhoti, you too can start by draping a pitambar (yellow silk) dhoti. You can buy dhotis in small size that are available and drape it. If you wish to make things more easy, then opt for a readymade dhoti.

Jewelry

You will need a long pearl necklace, baju band or arm band, kangans, earrings or stick on earrings and payal or anklet. To give that authentic look, you can also put a garland made with jasmine flowers around your child’s neck.

Crown

The crown is the most important part of the look. You can get these beautiful ornamental light weight head gears at shops. If you are good at arts and craft, you can make one using some cardboard, glue and golden colored paper. Make sure that this mukut is comfortable for the kid. Attach a beautiful prominent looking peacock feather to decorate the crown with a tape. Tie hair in a top knot and then place the crown on your child’s head.

Flute

Krishna is incomplete without a flute, so after you have fixed the outfit and the jewelry, make sure you hand a flute to your child. If you do not have a flute you can wrap some golden paper and beads on a small piece of stick and give it to your child as he roams around in the house in Krishna’s attire.

For makeup

All you have to do is apply a kasturi tilak on your child’s forehead using fresh chandan paste and some kumkum.

HAPPY JANAMASHTAMI TO ALL 🙂
